As IMS environments evolve, professionals are increasingly asked to work with modern access methods without abandoning trusted tools and skills. This session shows how BMC AMI Change Manager for IMS uses the IMS Catalog to bridge that gap. Attendees will see how COBOL and PL/I copybook metadata can be imported into the IMS Catalog using the DECODE command with the IMPORT keyword, with optional integration to File-AID for IMS for streamlined accuracy. Building on this foundation, the session demonstrates how recent enhancements make SQL approachable for IMS practitioners by generating statements through catalog-driven, menu-based selection rather than complex syntax.
